Amid the panic of this virus and the possibility of pandemic, it is difficult to avoid talking about COVID-19. Panic has reached epidemic proportions and I encourage calm, love, and common sense to carry you through this scary time.  

The most important methods of prevention seem to be to wash our hands with soap and water, for at least 20 seconds, often. Soap is effective at breaking down the viral envelope that is common to all corona viruses. This envelope is a membrane that is essential to the life cycle of the virus. Washing your hands will destroy this envelope when it is outside the body. In between hand washing, you can use a hand sanitizer. 

Because the virus spreads through respiratory droplets, make sure to cover your coughs and sneezes completely. Stop shaking hands. Keep your hands away from your face. If you must scratch or pick, wash your hands immediately before and after. Viruses can survive on surfaces for a limited amount of time, so you should also wash your hands as soon as you get home, and again, before and after you eat. Taking off your shoes at the door can help keep you from tracking viruses (and other contaminants) into your home. We should be doing this every day, during every season, not just for this particular virus.

Practice self-care! Get enough sleep, manage your stress (freaking out about this virus will not help!), exercise, eat a healthy, whole foods diet. The better care you take of yourself the stronger your immune system becomes. This is really important, not just right now concerning COVID-19, but for your whole health, for your whole life. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of self-care and your health.

There are numerous herbs and nutrients that help prepare your immune system for foreign invasion. It is difficult to say, because it is so new and has not been extensively studied, what will work for COVID-19.
