I have fallen in love with my Kineon Move+, a powerful, at-home photobiomodulation therapy that I wrote about here. As an avid weightlifter, hiker, and general workout enthusiast, I have my fair share of musculoskeletal tweaks- pulled tendons, sore muscles, and joint discomfort. Whelp, I have used my Kineon on all of the above with raving success. In a matter of 5-10 minutes a day, I can treat any area of discomfort. And you can, too!

This device uses near infrared light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, and is thought to work for pain through various mechanisms, although the exact processes are still being studied. Here are some of the ways in which red light therapy may help alleviate pain:

Cellular Energy Production:

Red light therapy involves the exposure of affected areas to red or near-infrared light. This light is absorbed by the mitochondria within cells, which are responsible for producing energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate (ATP). By enhancing mitochondrial function, red light therapy may improve cellular energy production. This can lead to tissue repair and reduced inflammation.

Reduction of Inflammation:

Red light therapy has been shown to reduce the levels of pro-inflammatory molecules, such as cytokines, and increase the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines. This modulation of the inflammatory response can help decrease pain and swelling.

Increased Blood Circulation:

Exposure to red or near-infrared light can stimulate the release of nitric oxide, a molecule that causes blood vessels to dilate (vasodilation). This can enhance blood circulation in the treated area, which may improve nutrient and oxygen delivery to the joints and accelerate the removal of metabolic waste products, ultimately aiding in the healing process.

Stimulation of Collagen Production:

Red light therapy has been suggested to stimulate the production of collagen, a crucial component of joint tissues like cartilage and tendons. Enhanced collagen production may contribute to tissue repair and regeneration.

Pain Reduction:

Red light therapy may help to reduce pain perception by stimulating the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers produced by the body.

Enhanced Cellular Repair:

The light used in red light therapy can influence various cellular processes, including DNA synthesis and protein synthesis. This can contribute to tissue repair and regeneration.

Compare these effects to any over-the-counter OR prescription pain medication. Pain Relievers help to block the symptoms of pain but don’t actually promote healing. Once the medicine wears off, we go right back to feeling the pain again. We also need to be aware of the common side effects of pain medications; gastrointestinal issues, liver and kidney damage, as well as addiction potential.

Photobiomodulation is a much more effective tool that can actually help your body heal and recover. Kineon Move+ is your at-home, portable pain relieving healing tool. It fits snugly into your medicine cabinet and can benefit your whole family.
